In a busy day of Round 4 matches there was several surprises with injuries playing a large role in shaping the Quarter Finals draw and some veterans confirming their potential to win more majors. This was certainly the case for Roger Federer who is continuing it improve following some injuries that kept him out of the French Open for the first time this century. Roger had no issues beating American Steve Johnson who has fine grass court form, the Swiss superstar won 6-2 6-3 7-5. Meanwhile, both Williams sisters had fine straight set victories against tricky opponents as Serena shot down her Russian nemesis Kuznetsova and Venus ousted Spanish #2 Carla Suarez Navarro tennis tips.
Scotchman Andy Murray firmed as favourite to take out another Wimbledon title as he downed Australian Nick Kyrgios in straight sets, 7-5 6-1 6-4 convincingly. Slovakian pocket-rocket Cibulkova and Agnieszka Radwanska played out a classical 4th Round match as the former managed to advance following a 9-7 3rd set thriller, lasting an exhausting 3 hours. Vesnina and Makarova did virtually the same with another 9-7 3rd set matchup, in favour of Vesnina.
Shvedova of Kazakhstan pulled off another surprise as she ousted Safarova easily 6-2 6-4, to claim her 3rd career QF berth in a grand slam tournament. Frenchman Pouille had a marathon win of his own against Bernard Tomic 6-4 4-6 3-6 6-4 10-8, to come back from 2 sets to 1 down in a highlight match of his young career. American CoCo Vandeweghe could not continue her dream run as Russian Pavlyuchenkova outplayed her 6-3 6-3 to book her first QF in 5 years in a grand slam. Giant killer Sam Querrey continued his great run with a straight sets win against Mahut of France 6-4 7-6 6-4, to book his first QF in a major.
DAY 8 PREVIEW for tennis tips
Just 1 Round 4 matchup was incomplete on Monday as Jiri Vesely and Tomas Berdych were locked at 2 sets apiece and will have a 1 set shootout to decide the final quarterfinalists as the rest of the men enjoy a rest day.
